SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA. March 17, 2025 – We proudly celebrate the incredible achievements of our YMCA Mock Trial teams from Marysville Family YMCA and Mukilteo Family YMCA at the Washington State Competition held last weekend in Tacoma, WA. The students displayed not only legal acumen but also the values that define our Y community—integrity, respect, and teamwork.
The Marysville Y’s team earned the prestigious William Downing Values Award, a peer-nominated honor recognizing the team that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship, respect, and professionalism. Additionally, standout participant Rudy V. was named Best Attorney, a testament to his dedication, preparation, and courtroom skill.
“Our Mock Trial teams are a shining example of the power of youth development,” said Kim Gaffney, Executive Director of Youth Leadership at YMCA of Snohomish County. “They are learning to think critically, communicate effectively, and uphold the values that make strong leaders and engaged citizens.”
The YMCA is committed to equipping young people with the skills and confidence to make a difference. Programs like Mock Trial prepare students for success both in and out of the courtroom, fostering a lifelong commitment to justice and advocacy.
