Miracle League wrapped up its spring season with a visit none of its athletes, families, or volunteers will soon forget. Benson Boone – Grammy-nominated artist, Washington native, and former Miracle League volunteer – stopped by to cheer on and celebrate the athletes.

Before his superstardom, Benson Boone was a volunteer “buddy” when he was a high school student at Monroe High School. His surprise return highlights the impact that Miracle League has on all participants, including volunteers. Miracle League and the Y’s other adaptive programs build community – and that community lasts far beyond the field.

Miracle League is part of the Y’s adaptive sports programs, designed for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Through the Y’s commitment to inclusive programming, Miracle League gives every athlete the opportunity to play, belong, and thrive – regardless of ability.

Each play is paired with a buddy who supports them on the field, allowing families to be spectators and fans of the game. The program runs each spring and fall and is open to participants of all ages and ability levels.
