Mukilteo Family YMCA Personal Training

We’re now offering in-branch personal training!

We have experienced, certified personal trainers who are ready to create a personalized program to help you achieve your goals, no matter your current fitness level.

Y personal trainers provide the motivation and accountability to support you through every physical challenge and encourage you to try your hardest. Each one-on-one session will push you to your maximum potential, while ensuring proper form with a workout tailored to you. Through undivided attention and expert advice, your trainer will guide you every step of your journey.

Are you rehabbing from an injury? Are you looking to build muscle? Do you want to improve mobility? Your trainer genuinely cares about your goals and will partner with you to support, motivate, and celebrate your successes.

Meet Your Trainers


Joan is a American Council on Exercise (ACE) Fitness Certified Personal Trainer, wife, and mom to 10-year old twin girls. Her areas of expertise are strength training, functional movement and mobility, and orthopedic rehabilitation. She has worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years. When not training clients, she enjoys time with my family, travel, and playing her ukulele.


Laura is an NASM/AFAA certified personal trainer, versatile group exercise instructor, and certified nutrition coach. Her areas of expertise include weight training, functional movement, nutrition, weight loss, and working with teens/young adults. As a non-athlete, she discovered her passion for healthy living through group exercise classes and believe that everyone can enjoy physical activity and live their best life. When not teaching, training, or exercising Laura enjoys hiking, trying new foods, baking, and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.


Matt, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, brings over 25 years of personal training experience to the Mukilteo YMCA. He is a favorite among his many clients and always has a joke or saying that makes you smile, even while you are working hard. Many of his clients have lost weight WHILE getting stronger. He is a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) with NASM. He also holds certifications in weight training, kettlebells, TRX, and martial arts. Matt works hard and makes his clients enjoy working hard too. If you have a goal, Matt can help you get there with encouragement and a positive attitude.


Melinda is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Fitness Certified Personal Trainer and a former All-American collegiate athlete. She teaches many formats of group fitness classes. She has been training clients in Mukilteo for nearly a decade. Her areas of expertise include functional movement, core/pilates/barre, pre and post-menopausal fitness, and shoulder/hip rehabilitation support. She enjoys photography, hiking, travel, and spending time with her family.

All packages include a complimentary orientation for your first session. Get to know your trainer, share your goals and fitness history, and then you’re ready to get to work!


  • Safety, Sanitation, and Social Distancing Practices

    The safety of our staff and members is our highest priority. You’ll notice new signage throughout our facilities encouraging frequent handwashing, cleaning of the equipment before and after use, and social distancing from other Y members.

    Please bring your own water bottle and towel (if needed) to your session. Water fountain use is restricted to water bottle filling stations only and there is no towel service provided. Currently our pool, showers, basketball courts, hot tubs, saunas, and locker rooms are closed. Locker rooms are available for restrooms and handwashing only.
