YMCA of Snohomish County’s Yankee Doodle Dash – Virtual 5K/10K
EVERETT, WASHINGTON, June 4, 2020 – The YMCA of Snohomish County is excited to host the Yankee Doodle Dash Virtual 5K/10K taking place on Saturday, July 4 through Sunday, July 5.
The Yankee Doodle Dash was started in 1999 by the Everett Family YMCA, and race proceeds traditionally benefited the Everett Family YMCA Annual Campaign. This year’s virtual event replaces what would have been the 21st Annual Yankee Doodle Dash which had to be reimagined due to the COVID Crisis and new health guidelines for large crowds. When the YMCA decided to take the event virtual, it was also decided to include the entire YMCA community across Snohomish County. This year community, members from our Everett, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Mukilteo, and Stanwood-Camano YMCAs and communities are banding together in support of the Y.
“We are hoping to complete as many miles and recruit as many participants as possible to support the mission of the Y and to prove distance does not separate us; it actually brings us closer together,” said Kyla McNulty, Executive Director of the Everett Family YMCA.
“We hope that you join your fellow friends across Snohomish County on July 4th, and together, we can celebrate,” said Gael Gebow, Senior Program Director at the Everett Family YMCA. “We are better together. We are stronger together. Let’s get out and prove it!”
There is will be 5K and 10K registration options, including registration and pricing for youth. Registration for the 10K and 5K are $15 for Adults 19+ and $10 for Youth 18 and under. For an additional $10, you can upgrade your registration and receive the official virtual event t-shirt. Registered participants can pick up their official Yankee Doodle Dash bib, runner medal, and shirts—if upgraded—prior to the race at your local Y beginning July 3. Starting July 4, complete your 5K or 10K on the course of your choosing. Registration will only be offered online and will close July 5. A Facebook Group called the Virtual Yankee Doodle Dash was created to build community and online support this great event and the Y.
