Dream Builders Car Show Raises Funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County

EVERETT, WA. June 8, 2023 – The 9th Annual Dream Builders Car Show benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Snohomish County will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Evergreen Speedway (14405 179th Ave SE, Monroe, WA 98272). This year’s $125,000 fundraising goal will support youth mentorship programs across the county. Event founder, Steve Myers, benefitted from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in his youth and wants to give back to the organization that provided so much to him.

“I was matched with my Big Brother in 1994 and he is still a part of my life today,” said Myers. “Over the years, we’ve done everything together. He’s been the closest thing to a father figure that I’ve ever had.”

Due to his work schedule, Myers hasn’t had the availability to volunteer as a Big Brother, but wanted to contribute in some way. He originally created a weight loss fundraiser and raised $1,500 in pledges. He was disappointed in the results, so he thought of ways to make more money. Myers has been part of the car scene and knew how much money cars shows could raise. The first car show in 2014 surpassed its goal of $10,000 and the event has kept growing and raising money throughout the years. Over its eight-year history, the car show has raised nearly $500,000.

“People come back year after year because it’s a fun day, but they also see my passion for BBBS and want to contribute and support an organization that means so much to me,” said Myers. “I spend the day fighting back tears seeing the outpouring of support and personal connections. Rich, my Big Brother, stands behind me during the awards ceremony, so attendees see the positive impact of mentorship relationships first-hand.”

The Dream Builders Car Show, presented by APC Autospa, is open to the public from 9 am – 4 pm. The show requests a $5 suggested donation for admission. The day is filled with hundreds of unique cars to see, as well as live action racing, live bands, Vendors Row showcasing area businesses and entrepreneurs, contests and over 100 awards. There is also a free kids area with face painting, a bouncy house, inflatable obstacle course with slides, and everyone’s favorite, Power Wheels Drags, where kids can race power wheels against each other down the Kid Zone Drag Strip.

“Creating a fun car show is important, but I also want to make it an event that Bigs can take their Littles to as a fun outing,” said Myers. “The event is very kid-friendly. We’re raising money for the kids, but also want them to enjoy the day.”
