Group Exercise Classes
Group exercise is one of many ways the Y supports members in achieving their health and wellness goals. The YMCA Group Exercise Programs improve health, encourage social interaction and with motivating music, are one of the most enjoyable ways to move and feel great. Highly trained staff members lead the programs and often tailor them to the specific needs of the community.
In addition to our Yoga, Zumba, and water fitness classes, there are additional class formats that deliver a fun and effective exercise experience in a supportive group setting. Each has been professionally designed and tested through a comprehensive program development process, and all are continually refreshed so the programs evolve with the latest trends in group exercise and to keep you motivated and moving:
Cardio Step Together
Cardio Step Together is 60-minutes of cardio training that uses The STEP® in highly effective, athletic ways. It will get your heart pounding and sweat pouring as you improve your fitness, agility, coordination and strength with exciting music and group energy.
Cardio Step Together is perfect for new exercisers (there are a variety of intensities) or anyone wanting an athletic, results-oriented workout. It is also ideal for adding training variety to your workout routine. You will do it all in an hour: walk, jog, run, jump, plyometrics, balance drills, lateral drills and quickness drills—all on and off of The STEP®. The workout starts with a warm-up, takes you through multiple levels of cardio and finishes with conditioning and toning of your core and upper body.
Cycle 30 Together
Cycle 30 Together will get you fitter and feeling better in only 30 minutes. It’s a cardio workout that is as easy as riding a bike. Inspiring music and motivating coaching will get you to burn calories, improve muscular endurance and build cardio fitness as you ride with surges, short intervals, power and then end with a rush.
Cycle 30 Together works for anyone who wants to burn calories, lose weight or be more fit. Those new to exercise can benefit as Cycle 30 Together is only 30 minutes and you control the intensity, as well as athletes who want to cross train or just add cardio to their strength routines. The program consists of seven tracks, including a warm-up, an endurance phase and short intervals for bursts of intensity with active recovery. Energetic music will make the time fly by, and you will feel great!
Cycle Together is a 60-minute cycling experience brought indoors. Roll over hills, chase the pack, spin the flats, climb mountains and sprint to the finish. You’ll feel the thrill of energetic music and group dynamics as you get all the benefits of authentic interval training.
For those looking for a low-impact option for cardio fitness, Cycle Together is a perfect fit. The program also works for new exercisers (with or without cycling experience) looking for simplicity and the ability to work as hard as they want as well as avid cyclists looking for an indoor/off-season training option. Cycle Together consists of ten tracks that make use of different terrains, speeds and intensity levels to create a fun and highly effective interval-based cardiovascular workout.
Strength Train Together
Strength Train Together maximizes your workout results with 60 minutes of impact strength training. You’ll get stronger while improving movement when you combine traditional strength training with functional exercises using an adjustable barbell, weights and body weight.
This workout features a variety of moves, including squats, lunges, curls and presses and covers upper body, lower body and core. Add motivational music, and it is simply the most fun you’ll have strength training. It’s an ideal workout for both beginners and advanced exercisers looking for a strength workout as you select how much weight to use. Strength Train Together is developed with a periodized approach to ensure you are constantly changing your workout and challenging your body to get great results.
