Why We Give
HAP & CLAY WERTHEIMER
In 1990 we moved to Everett from Vermont and sought out the Everett YMCA, a place that has since become our family. It’s a place where our kids took swimming lessons, where we stay healthy, and a place where we have many friends. At the Y it doesn’t matter how much money you make, what color your skin is, or what religion you follow. It is a safe place where everyone is welcome. We realized early on that the Y doesn’t just teach classes; it also has outreach programs that are an important part of the community. In addition, the Y addresses and provides solutions to chronic health issues such as diabetes and obesity, and provides critical cancer survivor support. The Y has a great legacy; it’s been around for more than a century. It’s clearly been able to serve the needs of the community and assess, meet, and adjust to those needs over time. That’s really impressive for an institution. We want to make sure that the great legacy of the Everett YMCA, as something that uniquely serves our community, continues for years to come. It’s a wonderful, inclusive, and vibrant place that we feel embraced by and that we want to give back to. We invite you to join us with a capital investment to the new Everett YMCA so we can ensure that its legacy supports our community for another 100 years.
