Thousands of youth in our community come to the Y seeking meaningful relationships. Our current facility does not encourage interactions between people of all ages and backgrounds.
The new Everett Family YMCA will include comfortable, flexible gathering spaces for academic support and mentoring. The environment will make it easier for youth to create connections with peers and positive adult role models.
At the new YMCA, empowered youth will connect with people of all ages and backgrounds in our community, strengthening their potential to become happy, healthy adults.
CHALLENGE: Limited space to support all ages and abilities
Whether you are young or old, healthy or living with the daily realities of chronic disease, the Y is the place to go to improve your health. Our current space does not meet the health and wellness needs of our increasingly diverse and growing community.
The new Everett Family YMCA will position health and wellness programs and support in a positive environment where people want to get healthier together. It will be a place for all generations, from youth to seniors, to have the best space, programs, and resources to encourage each other in their shared pursuit of healthy living at the Y and beyond.
At the new YMCA, healthy generations will connect and be a force for better health and wellness that radiates across the county.
CHALLENGE: Barriers to Access
People with diverse abilities and physical challenges struggle to navigate our current building. The physical spaces are not responsive to the broad range of physical, cultural, and social backgrounds in our community.
Everyone is valued at the Y and at the new, intentionally designed facility, everyone will feel welcome. The new space will have elevator access, wider hallways, and a safer and more inclusive design. The new Everett Family YMCA will be defined by collaborations with community organizations that support the full spectrum of health and wellness in Snohomish County.
At the new YMCA, our inclusive community will connect to break down barriers between people and build a stronger network of support across our county.
CHALLENGE: Lack of permanent space hinders outreach
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County aspires to positively change the lives of more youth, however, we do not have a permanent home or engaging space to interact with the community.
Big Brothers Big Sisters will host match introductions and present Bigs and Littles with more activity options. Increased visibility of mentorship opportunities and benefits will reach more youth and adult mentors by making a permanent home within the new Everett Family YMCA a reality.
At the new YMCA, our valued collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters will connect a broader community to the lasting impact of mentorship.
