My Y Story: Paul
In 2010 Paul noticed that his handwriting was getting smaller and more difficult to read. Knowing something must be wrong, he went to his doctor and was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease.
A lifelong member of the Y, Paul learned about the Pedaling for Parkinson’s (PFP) program from an instructor. Research shows a 35% reduction of symptoms by the simple act of pedaling at a rapid pace.
Paul took up cycling and has been participating in PFP for five years now. Because of the program, his actions are more controlled and coordinated. He can button a shirt and can fly-cast on his annual fly fishing trips.
“I have not seen anyone the program has not helped. It is such an easy step, but one that will change your life.”
