Education & Experience

• Minimum age 21
• Must have 2 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
• Have the ability and willingness to lead activities
• Must be able to adjust to presented situations
• Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: leadership, outdoor living, camping, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
• First Aid, CPRPRO, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
• Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions

Required Skills

Must be available between the hours of 8am-5pm, with occasional overnights
Start Date June 12th
Program runs from June 24-August 31

Physical Demands:
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Must be able to swim, hike, and stand for periods of time. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe supervision for group of 6th – 9th grade campers
• Plan and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values in order to meet the intended participant outcomes
• Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Be a role model to participants and staff in your attitude and behavior
• Lead team building activities and group games daily
• Interact and engage with children in an age and developmentally appropriate manner, and use positive behavior guidance techniques
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
• Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff
• Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their children to have a successful camp experience
• Perform other duties as assigned
