Dance and Tumbling Instructor

Salary:
$14.00+ DOE
Days & Hours:
Tuesday mornings (9am-12pm). Possibly 1 weeknight and/or Saturday mornings
Required Skills

• Experience working with children/families of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Tumbling/Dance experience required
• Minimum age 18
• Fluency in second language preferred
• Ability to exercise sensitivity in dealing with individuals of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cognitive and physical abilities as well as individuals of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Basic knowledge of sports preferred

Physical Demands:
Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to area of expertise, performing all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Instruct group tumbling and beginning dance classes; provide quality service to participants in a safe, enjoyable, positive and culturally appropriate environment that promotes wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.
• Lead classes
• Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes
• Provide quality customer service to our diverse participants, contributing to member retention
• Knowledge of trends to provide effective information and support to participants
• Familiar and promote all YMCA programs and events
• Keep accurate class attendance records
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations
• Other duties as assigned
