My Achievers Program

MAP has traditionally run as an after school program for middle school and high school youth. The program is designed to meet twice a week during the course of the school year,with additional field trips and college tours on Fridays.

Locations and Hours:

Voyager Middle School
Wednesday & Thursday, 2:45-4:30 pm,

Explorer Middle School
Tuesday & Wednesday, 2:45-4:30 pm

Mariner High School
Thursday & Friday, 2-4 pm


English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)

The YMCA is partnering with the Seattle Goodwill and Edmonds Community College to offer eight weeks of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Free child care (ages one year and up) is provided. Although there is no cost to attend, there are a few requirements, including regular attendance.

Seattle Goodwill

The Goodwill class will build confidence in everyday situations, improve consumer skills, and prepare students for employment or educational programs.

High Intermediate Level: Tuesday/Thursday 9:30-11 am

Beginning Level: Tuesday/Thursday 11 am-noon

Edmonds Community College

The Edmonds Community College class is for the intermediate English speaker and focuses primarily on either work or family interactions.

Workplace: Mon., Wed., Fri., 11 am-12:55 pm

Family Life: Monday-Thursday, 1:10-3:10 pm

GED Preparatory Class

GED Preparatory Class in spanish

The YMCA offers preparatory GED classes for individuals who did not complete the high school requirement for high school graduation but would like to earn their high school equivalency.  These workshops will cover writing, social studies, and science help students prepare taking the comprehensive GED. You’ll learn what steps you’ll need to take and pass a complete GED. Tutoring is provided & free child care (ages one year and up) is provided.
