EVERETT, Wash., Aug. 29, 2017 – The Stanwood-Camano YMCA is celebrating its one year anniversary and the community is invited to join in the festivities.

The celebration will take place on Sept. 3 from 11 am-2 pm at the Stanwood-Camano YMCA located at 7213 267th St. NW, Stanwood 98292. The event is free and open to the community and there will be prize drawings throughout the day. For participants age 7 and older (and able to pass the green band swim test), bring your swimsuit as the Y will be unveiling something new and cool in the pool.

A special one day join fee promotion will offer a $0 join fee if people join the Stanwood-Camano YMCA on Sept. 3. This offer is only good in-branch.

As the one-year anniversary approaches, Mary Bredereck, Executive Director, is reflecting on how the facility has exceeded expectations. “The Y has been an important resource for this community and we continue to grow. We now have more than 4,000 members, with roughly 1,200 of those being seniors,” said Bredereck.

“We are an active, health-minded community and we continue to see strong usage of our pools, studios, and gym. As we approach the new school year, we are excited to offer licensed before and after school child care for both the Camano Island and Stanwood communities, and continue to provide middle school and teen programs at the branch.”

Bredereck continued, “Last year, the branch averaged 50-85 young people at the Y after school and we are hoping to continue that trend – since youth development is one of our guiding principles – there is clearly a tremendous opportunity to connect and positively impact the youth in our community.”

The 47,000 square foot YMCA is a community gathering place designed to provide something for everyone.
