Jacob spends almost every day after school at the YMCA Youth Development Center. He participates in nearly every activity that the Y offers teens and eagerly volunteers at the Y whenever the opportunity arises.
But his life has not always been so well-structured. When he was about four years old, his mother packed up the two of them and left their Everett home. When she realized the constant moving wasn’t helping — if anything it was making their situation worse — they moved back to Everett.
Today, Jacob is an engaging, articulate, and self-assured advocate for the Y’s teen programs. “I still don’t know my full potential yet. The Y is helping me to prepare to achieve success. It’s like your backpack to prepare you for life. The YMCA is part of that backpack.”
