Margaret Bridge, Volunteer

Working for Water Safety, In and Out
of the Pool

For Margaret Bridge, retirement means an opportunity to give back to her community. When the Y opened in Monroe, she saw it as the perfect time to use her skills as a former Red Cross swim instructor and help out the new staff. Margaret has been with the Monroe YMCA ever since.

Believing that every drowning is preventable, Margaret makes it her mission to teach water safety in the Sky Valley region. Margaret is also an active fund raiser, and educates donors and parents on the impact their support has on providing water safety lessons to youth in our community.

Margaret says, “If you give kids an opportunity and direction in the water, it is amazing how they succeed. They will feel confident and progress in other areas of their life.” Margaret is teaching swimmers the core values of the Y and changing lives in our community one swim lesson at a time.

At the Y, we exist to strengthen community. Together with people like you, we nurture the potential of kids, help people understand and improve their health, and provide opportunities to give back and support our neighbors.
