Age Infant to 5 Years

The YMCA of Snohomish County provides Early Childhood Education at the Heatherwood Child Care Center (part of Mill Creek Family YMCA) and the Everett Family YMCA.

All programs have a weekly curriculum that includes learning about the YMCA's Core Values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Toddlers learn and participate in science and cooking projects; activities developing sensory and gross motor skills; creative art projects; and Fit Kids. Preschool and pre-Kindergarten programs build on children's natural desire to learn new things and become more self-reliant. Getting along with other children, sharing, taking turns and working in a group are a natural part of playing games or learning a new craft. The theme-based curriculum is designed to foster all areas of your child's development. Activities include creative arts, block building, dramatic play, small and gross motor play, science, and swimming.

YMCA teachers are highly trained and maintain an ongoing certification program. Low staff ratios provide lots of opportunities for one-on-one interaction with the children, developing positive relationships that help children learn to trust others and themselves.
