If within 30 days of joining you are not completely satisfied with your experience with the YMCA of Snohomish County, we will refund your monthly membership dues. As always, we never require a contract when you join the Y.

FAQ about Membership

View all
Can I try the Y before I become a member?

Yes! Click the Tour & Try button on the right to download a free guest pass. Or, ask a friend that is already a member of the Y if they have any spare Guest Passes to come to the facility with them. You can use complimentary passes up to 3 times in a year. After that, Day Passes are available for a small fee.

Call your branch's Membership Director to ask about any upcoming "bring a friend for free" periods, and the Teen Director will be happy to tell you about Teen Guest Passes.

How much does membership cost?

Membership rates are based upon membership type - individual, family, senior, etc. Click here to view our current pricing structure.

What payment options are available with a Y Membership?

Payment Methods

The Y has no contracts. Monthly payments are made automatically via bank draft or credit card draft. Alternatively, you may wish to pay for your membership one year in advance. New member activation requires a one-month payment of membership dues plus pro-rated monthly fess at time of enrollment (example, if you join on April 15, you would pay a prorated rate for 15 days of membership, plus one full month's dues).

If you register online, the credit card you provide will be used for your monthly payments on the 1st of the month. You may change your draft day to the 15th of the month or switch payment methods at the branch.

We also offer Financial Assistance. Visit our Financial Assistance page for details.

Do you offer financial assistance?

The Y is for everyone. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and funding partners, financial assistance is available to those in need. Applications are available on the Financial Assistance page of this website.

I want to become a member of the Y. How exactly do I join?

Congratulations for becoming an active Health Seeker! You can purchase a membership online, or you can register in branch by downloading and printing your application from our Membership Rates page.

How many branches does my membership include?

YMCA of Snohomish County membership - When you become a Y member with a SnoCo membership, you are automatically welcomed into five family branches that offer a wide variety of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility opportunities. Several programs are housed off-site, including our Youth Development Centers and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

My Y is Now Every Y in Washington - We want to encourage members to use the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to use a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region.

Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout the state, at no extra charge. Learn more details here.

A.W.A.Y. membership - When you have a YMCA membership, you are always welcome at Ys across the country!

Some restrictions apply, and different Ys offer different benefits for this program, so it's best to contact your destination Y before you arrive to inquire about their A.W.A.Y. visitor policy. To find any Y in the USA, go to www.ymca.net. Search under "Find Your Y" or download the Y Finder mobile app.

Y members that are visiting a branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County may enjoy up to 24 free visits per calendar year as their A.W.A.Y. benefits.

What is included in my membership?

Your YMCA of Snohomish County facility membership gives you unlimited access to our five family branch facilities - pools, locker rooms, cardiovascular equipment, weight rooms, most group exercise classes, personalized wellness programs, and other spirit/mind/body events.

Additionally, members are invited to participate in other fee-based activities at a discount: excursions, seminars, sports leagues, massage, nutritional counseling, and so much more. Visit our What's Included page for full details.

May I bring guests to the facility?

Absolutely! Included with every YMCA membership are 12 free Guest Passes. Simply come in with your guest to use one of your guest passes. Guests may visit the Y up to 3 times per calendar year. Guests may also download a free Guest Pass from our website by clicking the Tour & Try button on the right to check out our facility without a member.

If your guest decides to join your Y family, make sure to tell your Membership Director. Through the Member-get-a-Member program, you can receive a refund for one month's membership dues!

What is the AWAY Network?

The AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) logo on your membership card allows you to access Ys around the country. A visiting member from an out-of-town Y is always welcome by showing their valid Y membership card.

Exact privileges vary, so we advise that you contact the Y in the location to which you are traveling to ask ahead of time what benefits will be extended to you during your stay. You can "Find Your Y" online at www.ymca.net or by downloading the YFinder iPhone app.

Visitors to the YMCA of Snohomish County are entitled to 24 visits per calendar year. Ys in the Puget Sound Triangle membership area are not considered to be part of the AWAY program.

I won't be able to come into the Y due to a vacation/injury/job/etc. Can I put my membership on hold?
Leave of Absence

You may have your membership held in abeyance once per calendar year.  All members on Leave of Absence will be charged a convenience fee of $7 per month for the duration of the Leave of Absence. If your membership dues are current, simply submit your request for abeyance in writing at least 15 days before the abeyance is to take effect. Abeyances last 60-120 days, and membership will be automatically activated after the term of abeyance expires. If you have paid for your membership a year in advance, the time held in abeyance will be added to the end of the current membership year.

Visit this web site. Visit us any time, and see what is happening at your local branch!

Talk to Member Services. Our friendly staff can answer almost any question about classes and events at your branch. Feel free to stop by the desk in the lobby, or call during business hours.

What classes would you recommend for beginners?

Each branch has a schedule of group exercise classes available, and classes suitable for those just beginning or renewing their exercise routine are specially noted.

For specific questions about whether a particular class is right for you, please call your branch's Well-Being Director or register for a Wellnes Connection, where a Wellness Coach will guide you in choosing classes that fit your needs and goals, and explore other possibilities available to you.

How do I register for a class, program, or event?

Most programs and some events require pre-registration. Even if there is no charge we may need to limit the number of attendees due to space limitations, or to purchase enough food or supplies in advance.

All registrations can be done in-person at the Member Services desk of any branch. Most registrations are available online.

Please note that most programs at the Y require an ongoing Facility Membership or Program Membership for a small additional fee. We also have community events that are open to the public, including the Yankee Doodle Dash, SPLASH Week and more. If you have any questions regarding the availability of any program or event, please contact the Welcome Center at your branch.

What do I do when I get to the Y?

When you visit a family branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, you will immediately be greeted by a welcoming lobby and Member Services area. Our friendly staff will be happy to schedule a tour with you, explain Guest Pass policies, and answer any question you may have about the facility and the programs and services it offers.

What should I bring? Should I come dressed for a workout?

Locker rooms with showers are available at every family Y. Feel free to plan a workout whenever your schedule allows it! Bring along whatever personal items you will need during and after your workout, but please leave unneccessary valuables at home - don't forget a water bottle and a lock for your locker!

Closed-toe athletic shoes and shirts or workout tops are required. Eye guards must be worn in racquetball courts.

Towel service is provided at all of our Ys, but feel free to bring along your own towel, especially for swimming. Proper swim attire (not street clothes) must be worn in the pool and spa areas.

For your safety, and to preserve our equipment, jeans are not permitted.

Where do my kids go?

All of our family branches have highly trained staff ready to keep your children safe, active, and happy while you get in a workout or enjoy a class. A few branches even have youth fitness equipment that is sized especially for kids!

Talk to Welcome Center staff, or view your branch's schedules online or via the mobile app for more detailed information regarding Child Watch, Adventure Zone, and Youth Development Centers.

Please review the Youth Guidelines available here and in your Member Handbook for detailed information regarding youth at the Y.

Do you offer nutrition counseling?

Yes! Some of our branches have a Registered Dietitian on staff, available for professional nutritional advice and counseling. Contact your branch's Member Services staff to make an appointment and inquire about any applicable fees.

Branches will also offer periodic nutrition or cooking seminars, often based around a particular theme or nutritional challenge. Keep an eye on your branch's Calendar for these events!

Do you offer personal training?

Absolutely. Our personal trainers are board certified and ready to assist you on your path to wellness. Contact Member Services at your branch to make an appointment. The trainers will work with you to create a wellness routine tailored to your specific needs; then it's up to you whether to go it on your own from there or continue working with the trainer in one-on-one or small group sessions.

What is a Wellness Connection?

A Wellness Connection is a one-on-one meeting with a trained Y professional to meet with you and discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, show you how to use equipment and recommend appropriate wellness programs for you. We want you to get the most out of your Y Membership, and our staff is available to assist you.

Call the Member Services staff of your branch to make your appointment for this valuable service, included in your membership when you register within 30 days of joining the Y.

How do I use the exercise equipment?

YMCA staff is always available to answer your questions about how to use any of our equipment. Ask about one-time free orientation sessions to learn about proper form and usage; or sign up for a free Wellness Orientation with one of our trained Y staff to get a complete overview of the equipment and create a plan to meet your fitness goals.
